HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” is the fourth novel of the series written by J.K. Rowling and published for the first time by Bloomsbury in 2000. And today it’s the 31th of July! Any memories? It’s J.K.Rowling and his character-Harry Potter-birthday! Coincidenses? I don’t think so.
SYNOPSIS: When Harry Potter wakes one morning with a searing pain in the lightning- shaped scar on his forehead, he’s not sure what it means. All he knows is that the last time is happened Lord Voldemort was close by. Three days later, the Quidditch World Cup ends in a carnage at the hands of the Dark Lord’s followers- and Harry steels himself for more trouble ahead.
Back at Hogwarts for his fourth year, Harry is astonished to be chosen by the Globet of Fire to represent the school in the Triwizard Tournament. The competition is dangerous, the tasks terrifying and true courage is no guarantee of survival- especially when the darkest forces are on the rise …
“Book Four’s a very very VERY important book. Something very important happens in Book Four. But also, it’s literally a central book. It’s almost the heart of the series, and it’s pivotal.“—J. K. Rowling
REVIEW: The Goblet of fire is the heart of the series. Between exceptional events such as the Quidditch World Cup and the Triwizard Tournament, the story of our trio evolves and Lord Voldemort returns.
Harry faces his first crush for Cho Chung, a Ravenclaw girl, while Ron and Hermione have to face their situation, but I don’t want to say too much and spoil you something! Mr. Weasley, Fred,George,Ron, Ginny, Hermione and Harry reach the Quidditch World Cup with a weirdo boot Portkey with Amos Diggory and his son Cedric. The final match takes place between Ireland and Bulgaria. Even if Viktor Krum, the Bulgaria’s seeker catch the Golden Snitch, Ireland wins the World Cup.
But after the game is over a riot starts in the campsite, where a group of masked wizard attack everyone they encounter, all people get away and find a shelter in the wood, but Harry loose his wand so while their looking for it, the Dark Mark floats in the sky.
Leaving King’s Cross to reach to Hogwarts, all the students find out that this year the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, an exceptional events, a tournament between three students of the three different Wizarding school in Europe -Hogwarts, Beuxbatons and Durmstrang- have to compete in three trials for one thousand Galleons. A new professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts arrive and he’s the famous Auror Mad-EyeMoody.
After the coming of the two hosted schools, the Goblet of Fire is placed in the Great Hall, that will choose the name of the three students who have to compete, but for their safe students underage cant’t partecipate.
Even if it was underage, Harry is chosen with Cedric Diggory to represent his school, Krum will represents Durmstrang and Fleur Delacour will represents Beauxbatons. But for Harry the things are not getting easier, all students think that he has deceived the Goblet, and also his best friend Ron doesn’t trust him for some time (I was really upset and sad at the same time by this situation, but all good friends argue!). The tasks are difficult and not only courage will assure that Harry would be live and safe after the three tasks.
Dragons are the first tasks, saving who you love from the lake is the second and the last is the maze. In the maze there’re tricks and spells to use, at least Harry and Cedric reach together and take the Cup together.
But instead of ending the tournament, the Cup carries them to a graveyard where Lord Voldemort returns with the help of Wormtail and Harry’s blood. Cedric is killed by Wormtail, but Harry at least survive thanks to a Priori Incantem. He returns to Hogwarts with Cedric body and the whole thruth is revealed. But not all people trust Harry about Lord Voldemort returns!
Cedric death was painful, not as others, but he was only a boy that has en entire life to live. It’s really sad when you think about this topic, because so many children and teenagers died during this time.
Love is the key of Harry’s safety thanks to his parents, but most of all to his mother Lily, who protected him until her last breath.
Plenty of adventure, as said by the author, the fourth book is very important! Always a pleasure to read, fluent and always disarming.
